Used to treat spontaneous and tension pneumothorax. Catheter introduction technique is performed using a one-stick trocar technique. Catheter placement is facilitated by its Intro-Tip design, which helps prevent the catheter from accordioning back over the trocar needle assembly when encountering resistance during insertion. AQ hydrophilic coating on distal 10 cm of catheter, when activated, becomes very lubricious, greatly reducing the coefficient of friction. The decreased friction of the distal catheter surface facilitates ease of catheter introduction reducing placement trauma. The adapter on the tubing can be connected to a suction apparatus or the chest drain valve. Supplied sterile in peel-open packages. Intended for one-time use.
