SorbaView® Window Dressings feature a patented, multi-layer construction. This innovative design utilizes a breathable outermost layer, protective and strong inner layers to control moisture and inhibit bacterial penetration, and a conforming adhesive layer to anchor it all securely. The soft, flexible, needle-punched fabric moves comfortably and conforms securely to the skin's surface. The polyurethane film layer protects the site by creating an occlusive barrier to contaminants and liquids, while allowing the skin to breathe normally. The adhesive coating is applied in a unique pattern that prevents any blockage of the film's permeability. This allows the dressing to retain its high moisture-vapor permeability, and to hold securely for extended time periods to meet the demands of hospital protocols. The non-adherent pad under the film is lint free and highly absorbent. This pad is designed to help keep the catheter entry site dry by wicking away moisture from under the film center out to the pad, where it then continues to breathe up through the film and fabric layers. The pad serves to protect the adhesive around the outer edges of the dressing from moisture, preserving the dressing's integrity. This patented action prevents build-up of fluid at the site - a breeding ground for bacteria - and keeps moisture from breaking down the adhesive under the fabric border. Adhesive stays dry, dressings stay on.
